The Course In A Nutshell
The basis of this course is that we aren’t just simply doing a project breakdown of an already-made track. We build the track together, completely from scratch so that you can learn in the most effective and practical way.
- We provide you with all the samples and presets used throughout the course
- Together we build the initial 16 bar loop idea
- We then take the loop through to full arrangement
- We then add detail and final touches ready to mix and master
- And finally, we mix and master the track together, ready to send out to labels
Tutor
Founder, Lead Sound Designer, Product Manager
Julian or “Jules” is a South African born, UK based producer. He founded Basic Wavez originally as an apparel company in 2018. All the while focussing on music and sound design. In 2020 his musical project (Bound to Divide) started to gain traction along with his YouTube channel. Basic Wavez started releasing Sample packs and Sound Banks and the response was astounding. Jules’ main focus since has been to constantly develop and improve all aspects of music creation and education – he is now in charge of the planning and creation of all products at Basic Wavez, as well as guiding and working with various other sound designers and musicians.

This course is aimed at the intermediate producer who already knows their way around Ableton Live and wants to learn more about the concepts of writing music in a specific style. While a lot of concepts can be translated even into other DAWs and synths we’ll be using Ableton Live 12 Suite throughout this course.

If you don’t see your question here simply head over to our support page to get in contact and we will gladly assist.
If you are using Live 11 Standard or Intro you can still follow along but might be missing some of the effects and instruments we use. However, the general concepts can be transferred to whatever DAW you are using so while you might not get the exact same results, you will still benefit from learning the general principles and techniques.
All samples are provided. As long as you have u-he Diva and Ableton Live 12 Suite you will be able to follow along.
